Picture #6 Kitchen Remodel
We preserved the original design
integrity of this turn-of-the-century house through the use of oversized
crown molding throughout the kitchen. As this space was too narrow for a
traditional island with cabinets on both sides yet too wide for a galley,
we combined the styles by adding built-in cabinets along the right side.
By varying the cabinet depths to accent the crown, the room takes on a
much more dramatic feel. The addition of corner cabinets to the right
provided space in which to wrap modified height cabinetry around the end
of the island, breaking up an otherwise long and oversized-looking counter
top.
